Car in ice

This ‘frozen asset’ is popular with photographers. Its image is all over the web at the moment …

And where is it? Locked into immobility on the shores of Lac Léman (otherwise known as Lake Geneva) at Versoix, Switzerland.

Over the past few days we have had a vicious bise wind blowing from the north, with temperatures of -10C and the spray thrown up from the lake has frozen anything it falls on … including carelessly parked cars.

What’s more, that poor car is likely to be there for a good few days yet. The wind is expected to pick up again tomorrow, and temperatures are going to stay well below freezing.

But … hey … the immobilised owner can probably take comfort from the fact that this is the most photographed car in the world at the moment.

These photographs are from Reuters, AP, Rosalyn Scott and Andrew Andrea.

And I’m going to go along there in a couple of days, after the next bout of bise has died down, to see if it’s still trapped.

In the meantime, if you have any photos of the same car, send them to me and I’ll feature them.

Let’s cheer the owner up a bit. She/He won’t be taking a ride in it anywhere just yet, but it sure is getting well-known.
